Our Mission
At Karafuto Karate, located at 2802 W Nob Hill Blvd in Yakima, WA, we teach traditional Okinawan and Japanese karate, sport karate, and wushu (Kung Fu). Our mission is to empower individuals through martial arts training. We believe in building confidence, discipline, and respect in every student, regardless of their age or skill level. Parents this is an investment into your child. Parents this is so important. Your kids are everything to you! Karate is like an insurance policy. We hope you will never need it, but if you do, you will be so glad your child has some idea how to protect themselves! We teach teens and adults too. Karate improves fitness, coordination, health, thinking and is an art that will grow you and your child. Our curriculum is based upon self-defense tactics, traditional karate, sport karate, and wushu (Kung Fu). We have a friendly, respectful dojo! Our dojo is led by a certified public-school teacher with a degree in Physical Education and emphasis in Psychology from Central Washington University and has studied martial arts for the last 50+ years, beginning in the summer of 1975 and has completed a highly successful 33-year career in education with most of that time working teaching in the field of Physical Education for the Yakima School District. Our Sport karate head coach has trained and competed 17+ years. Karafuto was once a part of ancient Japan called Ezo. Ezo was the land of the Samurai. :) In our Samurai Kids program your kids will become strong! Our youth coach is young, dynamic and passionate about martial arts. He has a wonderful way of working with youth and adults alike. At Karafuto Karate you will receive professional teaching and leadership. If you are interested in self-defense, traditional karate, or competitive karate this is the right place for you! We are the only dojo in Central Washington that teaches Wushu. Our monthly dojo dues are only $100 dollars a month for a single student, followed by $165 for two students within the same family unit. We have a fee of $210 for three persons in the same family unit, and $250 for 4 persons in a family unit. Wushu is an add on class for only $25 dollars per month if you are already taking karate.
